English: The flag of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais is based on state law 2793 from 8 January 1963, which describes the flag as follows:
  • In the centre of a white rectangle in the format 20 units by 14 units is a red equilateral triangle with a side length of 8 units.
  • clockwise from left to right the sides of the triangle carry the phrases "LIBERTAS", "QUAE SERA" and "TAMEN". The letters are distanced from the triangle by 1/3 of a unit and are 2/3 of a unit in height.
Português: A bandeira de Minas Gerais tem a sua definição sobre o Lei Estadual n° 2.793, de 8 de janeiro de 1963:

“Institui a Bandeira do Estado de Minas Gerais.

Art. 1º Para os efeitos do que dispõe o artigo 154 da Constituição Estadual, fica instituída, como Bandeira do Estado de Minas Gerais, a descrita na presente lei.
Art. 2º A Bandeira do Estado de Minas Gerais tem os seguintes desenho e forma: um retângulo em branco com 20 (vinte) módulos de comprimento e 14 (quatorze) módulos de largura; ao centro, um triângulo eqüilátero em vermelho com 8 (oito) módulos de cada lado, tendo no lado superior esquerdo a palavra "LIBERTAS", no lado superior direito as palavras "QUAE SERA" e na base a palavra "TAMEN", as quais palavras são em TIPO ROMANO, com letras de 2/3 de módulo em altura e separadas do triângulo por 1/3 do módulo, formando no conjunto a frase "Libertas quae sera tamen", que é a divisa da Inconfidência Mineira.”
